A Mass of Christian Burial for Kathleen L. Wehr, 84 of Keota will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 at 10:00AM at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Father Troy Richmond officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Keota. Visitaiton will be held Thursday, May 9, 2013 from noon until 7PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington where the family will greet friends from 5-7PM with a Rosary at 7PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Keota QRS and the West Chester 1 st Responders. Kathleen L. Wehr, died Monday, May 6, 2013 at Mercy Hosptial in Iowa City following a brief illness.
Kathleen Lucille Wehr was born April 16, 1929 in rural Washington County the daughter of Matthias John and Eleanor Matilda (Schumacher) Wehr. She graduated from West Chester High School in 1948 and then began working at the McCleery calendar factory. She later work at Advanced Ross and was a clerk at JC Penney. Kathleen was a member of St. James Catholic Church. She enjoyed mowing, working in her flower beds, cooking, shopping with her nieces and her dog; Laura.
Survivors include three brothers; Clarence “Bud” Wehr of Washington, Marion Wehr of Keota, Lester (Barbara) Wehr of Keota and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding Kathleen in death were her parents, four brothers and three sisters.
