Laura A. Miller, 80, passed from this life on May 13, 2026, at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the East Union Mennonite Church. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home Facebook and YouTube pages. Burial will take place at 9:30 AM at the East Union Cemetery before the service. The family will greet friends from 4 – 7 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Home. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Laura Ann (Kempf) Miller was born on October 30, 1945, at the Washington County Hospital. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School. On May 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Paul L. Miller at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Laura was a teacher’s aide at the Kalona Elementary for 29 years. She attended East Union Mennonite Church and enjoyed having coffee with her many friends at the Kalona Coffee House. Laura was an avid reader and loved to play games with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three children: Tom “Goose” (Rebecca) Miller of Kalona, Tim “Big” (Dee) Miller of Kalona, Ann Miller of Wood Dale, IL, four grandchildren: Mya, Noah, Ava, and Jack Miller, three sisters-in-law: Linda Kempf of Iowa City, Nita Miller, and Dolores Miller of Kalona.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul on December 22, 2024, and her brother Marlin.
