Laurence "Larry" James Cole

Laurence “Larry” James Cole, 83, of Washington, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home.

His body has been cremated, and no services are scheduled. The Beatty-Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Larry was born October 25, 1942, in South Dakota, the son of Edmore and Marie Cole) Pelkey. He graduated from High School and enlisted in the Marines, serving in Vietnam. He was employed as a master electrician and enjoyed watching old westerns and fishing.

Survivors include children Christopher Cole of Washington, James Cole, Stephanie Cole, and Adam Cole, all of Iowa City; brother Floyd Pelkey and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie, and brother Edward.
