Funeral services for Lizzie Miller, 90, of Kalona will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 at 9:30AM at the Neal Borntrager home, 5570 Eagle Avenue, SW in rural Kalona. Burial will follow at the Brenneman Cemetery in rural Kalona. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 2-8 PM, Thursday, May 1, from 10 – noon, 1-5 and 6-7:30 PM. All visitaton will be held at the Neal Borntrager residence. A memorial fund has been established for Iowa City Hospice. Lizzie Miller died Monday, April 28 at her home.
Lizzie Miller was born May 12, 1923 in Jump River, WS, the daughter of Menno L. And Mattie (Hochstetler) Borntrager. She accepted Christ in her youth and remained a faithful member of the Old Order Amish Church all her life. She was united in marriage to John Henry Miller on October 4, 1945. The couple lived in Wisconsin and Missouri before moving to the Kalona community in 1978.
Lizzie is survived by twelve children and spouses: Saloma and Alvin Borntrager of Medford, WS, Clarence and Barbara Miller of Kalona, Albert and Ella Miller of Numa, IA, Chrissie and Mattie Miller of Norwood, MO, Dennis and Verna Miller of Wellman, Mattie Ann and Paul Schrock, Barbara Miller, John and Lilly Miller all of Kalona, Manuel and Ruth Miller of Wellman, Rosemary and Orvan Ropp, Dorothy and Wayne Ropp all of Kalona, Steve and Norma Miller of Wellman, 61 grandchildren, and 145 great grandchildren.
Preceding Lizzie in death were her parents, her husband, eight brothers, three sisters, three grandchildren and two stillborn great grandchildren.
