Louise Kauffman

February 25, 1914 — September 25, 2011

A celebration of life for Louise F. Kauffman, 97, of Wayland will be held Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Wayland Mennnonite Church with Pastor's Pam Unruh and Kelly Slagel officiating. The family will greet friends from 1:00PM until service time. Private family burial will be held at North Hill Cemetery in Wayland, prior to the service. Louise Kauffman died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at the Parkview Home in Wayland following a decline in health. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Parkview Home or the North Hill Cemetery.

Louise Fleming Longwell Kauffman was born Febuary 25, 1914 in Mason City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Lewis and Laura Fleming Longwell, the youngest of four children. The family moved to Washington, Iowa when she was one year old and she graudated from Washington High School in 1933.

She was united in marriage to Harold Kauffman in 1935 and moved to Wayland. Six children who survive her were born to this union; Jean Roth of Wayland, Joyce Wagler and husband Edwin of Wayland, Janice Widmer and husband Chris of Leawood, Kansas, Judy Roberts of Iowa City, Iowa, Joe Kauffman and wife Laurie of Wayalnd, Iowa and John Kauffman of Olathe, Kansas. She was a grandparent to 18 granchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

Louise was a member of the Wayland Mennonite Church. She was a dedicated mother and home maker who nurtured her children with Christian values. She was a fifty year member of both Eastern Star and TTT. She was an animal lover and enjoyed the years she and Harold raised Yorkshire Pups.

Louise joined the Parkview Home family in 2000 and was loved by the staff and residents.

Preceding Louise in death were her husand in 2001, her parents, one sister, Jean Lang, two brothers, Frank Longwell and Charles Longwell, a son in law, Ron Roth, a grandson, Phillip Wagler, and infant grandson, Chad Roberts, and an infant great grandson, Alexander Krieg.
