Cindy Duncan has embarked on her greatest adventure yet, leaving this world after a spirited three-year tango with cancer. Cindy spent her final years crafting cherished memories with her daughter Maria (Steve) Boone, son Eric (Megan) Landes, grandchildren Kyna (Aaron), Derek (Summer), Zach (Emmie), Payton, Panama, and Elora, and great-grandchildren Matthew, Mereda, Mosley, and Charlie, ensuring that when she finally danced wildly and freely toward the Great Mystery, she did so with a heart full of joy and a sack full of stories.
Cindy was a true nomad, finding a home in every corner of the country. Whether in her trusty van, a cozy tipi, or nestled in the heart of a small town, she discovered beauty in the quirks of each place she called home. Nature was her sanctuary, and she often claimed that trees were the best listeners—they never interrupted her mid-monologue about the meaning of life.
A fierce advocate for love, equality, and peace, Cindy fought passionately for the freedom to live authentically. Her infectious laughter could fill a room, and her hugs were legendary, often lasting longer than socially acceptable but always leaving you feeling a little lighter. She had a knack for collecting friends like she did rocks and seashells, each one unique and deeply treasured.
Cindy often pondered the big secret of what comes after this life. She mused about becoming a ghost, an angel, or even a magnificent rock formation in an ancient mountain—her preferred form of reincarnation. Whatever her new form, we have no doubt that she's having an adventure of cosmic proportions, likely causing a delightful ruckus, debating philosophy with celestial beings, or hitchhiking across the Milky Way.
To honor Cindy, let us all live a little more like her: with a heart full of love, a mind open to the wonders of the universe, and a spirit unafraid to embrace the unknown. Though we will miss her presence, her spirit lives on in every sunset she adored and every wildflower that grows in unexpected places. We take comfort in knowing that she's out there, somewhere, still making new friends and painting the stars with her unique brand of magic. Travel well, weird art girl, until we meet again in whatever form you choose.
There will be a celebration of life at her home (Maria and Steve’s House) on Nov. 2nd, 2024.
