Marilyn T. (Kleinschmidt) Mills, 83, of Lone Tree, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Birdhouse in Iowa City. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hills with Father David Paintsil officiating. A time of food and fellowship will follow the meal in the church fellowship hall. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society for Lymphoma research. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Marilyn Theresa Mills was born March 29, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Emery C. and Helen P. (Hein) Kleinschmidt. She graduated from City High School in 1961. Later that year, she was united in marriage to James Mills at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Iowa City. The couple lived in Hills, Iowa, for 20 years, Munising, Michigan, for 12 years, and Muscatine, Iowa, for 22 years. She was a co-owner of Trucks Unlimited and Mills Marine in Muscatine until her retirement. Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, watching her children and grandchildren play baseball, taking her granddaughter to dance, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include her husband Jim of Lone Tree; two sons: Martin (Bridget) Mills of Muscatine, Matthew (Amy) Mills of Muscatine; daughter-in-law Carol Mills of Kalona; five grandchildren: Jared (Jacky) Mills, Andrew (Kate) Mills, Katelyn (Marc) Belluomini, Julia Geldenhuys and Marcus Mills; two sisters: Charlene Onnen of Kalona, and Elaine (Garry) McCune of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, Stephen Kleinschmidt of Wellman.

Preceding Marilyn in death were her parents, her son Michael, and brother Charles Kleinschmidt.
