A funeral service for Marilys "Marcy" Ann (Holden) Keppy, of Sun City, AZ, will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church in Kalona. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube pages. The family will greet friends from 10 - 10:45 AM at the church prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg following a luncheon at the church.

Marcy was born in Williamsburg, Iowa, on August 16, 1942, the fourth of Palmer G. and Margaret Ann (Mumm) Holden’s eight children. She graduated from Tipton High School and Colorado Women's College, where she majored in interior design, later putting those skills to work as an interior designer in the Quad Cities.

A creative artist with a genius for fiber arts, Marcy could sew or make anything. She created quilts for friends and family and tirelessly searched for new fabrics and ideas for the next project. Friends and family prized her handiworks, especially those lucky enough to get a "test" version, as each gift was imbued with love and kindness.

Though they met later in life, Marcy loved her husband Dave beyond measure and he loved her back more. Together, they built a beautiful life, traveling the world on cruises and tours, making friends and collecting treasures, notably Mickey and Minnie mouse figurines, along the way. They cris-crossed the globe many times, missing few locales. Both Dave and Marcy are "Emerald Shellbacks," a rare honorary title earned by sailors crossing the Prime Meridian (zero longitude), which divides the Earth into east and west hemispheres, at the equator.

Boating, whether the vessel was large or small, was a passion the Keppys shared. Whether navigating the Mississippi River near their home in Milan, Illinois, or the Columbia River around Washougal, Washington, where they later lived, Marcy loved being on the water with Dave.

They also shared a fondness for golf. After retirement, they Keppys built a home in Corte Bella, where they spent many days golfing, testing new courses or playing old favorites around the country. Marcy was very active with the Corte Bella women's golf group, helping with annual tournaments, creating costumes, and planning breast cancer fundraisers, all while making lifelong friends. In their Corte Bella community, Marcy and Dave were known as the matriarch and patriarch of Las Palmas, guiding residents toward the light of retirement: good times with good wine with good friends. Marcy was a phenomenal cook and loved to entertain. There was always dinner in the works and new recipes to test on Dave and friends.

Marcy's laugh was contagious and genuine. She lit up a room with her presence and homemade treats. She made friends wherever she went and will be greatly missed by all.

Marcy is survived by her husband David H Keppy; stepdaughters Ellie Keppy, Wichita, KS, and Anna (Tim) Murphy, Lakeview, CO; granddaughter Teresa Barnett and great granddaughters Alaynah, Avyonah and Aryanah, Davenport, IA; sister Linda (Craig Davison) Miller, Tipton, IA; brothers Myron (Jan) Holden, Tipton, IA and Stan Holden, Fairview, TX; sister-in-law Elaine Holden; brother-in-law Lee Kellerhals, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding Marcy in death were her parents; her children: daughter René Lekwa Spriet and son Chad Lekwa; brother Arlyn Holden; sisters Jerylea Kellerhals, Beverly Skinner and Janeth Peterseim; and a nephew, Barton Holden.
