A celebration of life for Marjorie B. (Yoder) (Shaver) McArtor, 86, will be held Monday, April 24, 2017 at 5pm at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, with Pastor Larry Black officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. Visitation will be held from 3-5pm at the funeral home on Monday. A memorial fund has been established for Essence of Life Hospice at 3207 220th Trail, Amana, Iowa 52203. Marjorie McArtor died Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City.
Marjorie Belle (Yoder) (Shaver) McArtor was born June 25, 1930 in Iowa City, the daughter of Urie and Lorena (Beeney) Yoder. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1949. On June 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to Gail Shaver at the Kalona Christian and Baptist Church. Gail died on March 21, 1985. She worked as an Operating Room Technician at the University of Iowa Hospital, and later as Anesthesia Billing Supervisor. On July 7, 1990 she was united in marriage to Paul Duane McArtor. Duane died on February 7, 2003. Marjorie was a member of the Victory Fellowship Church in Brighton, and enjoyed fishing, camping, farming, jigsaw puzzles, coloring in adult coloring books and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include five children: Claudia Bishop of Kalona, Eric (Tarianne Ames) Shaver of Mechanicsburg, IL., Nancy Wasson of Kinross, Gale (Dave) Van Hauen of North Liberty, Robert Shaver of Iowa City, 16 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, five step children: Jeanne (Craig) Mulford of Mt. Pleasant, James (Sara) McArtor of Crawfordsville, Kenneth (Brooke) McArtor of Swedesburg, Jerry McArtor of Mt. Pleasant, Ron (Jeryl) McArtor of Winfield, 16 step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one brother Mervin Yoder, sons-in-law: Ken Bishop, Kim Wasson and Terry Meade and a stepson John McArtor.
