Mark Heusinkveld

Mark S. Heusinkveld, 57, of Des Moines, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids. His body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM at Mosaic of Central Iowa in Urbandale. A memorial fund has been established for Mosaic of Central Iowa. Donations may be sent to the family at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, PO Box 81, Kalona, IA 52247.

Mark Steven Heusinkveld was born October 8, 1965, in Big Rapids, Michigan, the son of Edwin D. and Helen J. (Rod) Heusinkveld. He attended Ruby Van Meter School in Des Moines. He enjoyed swimming, dogs, eating, watching Julia Child, plastic bags, being with people, Western and action movies. He laughed easily and often.

Survivors include two brothers: David (Gail) Heusinkveld of Iowa City and John Heusinkveld of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin; one nephew Evan Heusinkveld; three nieces: Kari and Molly Heusinkveld and Julianna (Scott) Kieper, and two great-nieces: Brooklyn and Zoey Heusinkveld. He is also survived by many good friends at Mosaic.

Preceding Mark in death were his parents.
