Martha Bandy

Martha Grace Bandy, 76 of Washington, died Saturday, June 1, 2013  at her home.

Funeral services have been set for 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at the Beatty Funeral Home with Mike Zahs officiating. Burial will follow at the Keota Cemetery. Vistitation will begin at Noon Tuesday at the Funeral Home with family present from 5-7:00 PM. Memorials in the name of Martha Grace Bandy have been designated to the American Cancer Society.


Martha was born July 3, 1936 in Iowa City, IA the daughter of Lester G. and Edna Myrtle (Clark) Smith. She graduated from Keota High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She was united in marriage to Darrell Bandy on July 11, 1959 in Keota.

She was a teacher at the Washington Junior High for twenty-five years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed antiques and flea markets.


Survivors include her husband Darrell of Washington, children, Stacy Ray Bandy and wife Kristen of Oskaloosa, IA, Wendy Sue Langan and husband Mike of Washington, Jody Dean Bandy and wife Amie of Oxford, IA and Angela Kay Anthony and husband Mark of Pella, IA; seven grandchildren, Abby Rezansoff, Alexandria Bandy, MacKenzie Anthony, Terryl Bandy, Cale Anthony, Tanner Bandy and Payton Bandy .

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald Sr.
