Marvin W. Kolosiek, 89, of Kalona, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. Burial will follow at the Sharon Hill Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, from 3 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona. A memorial fund has been established for Paws and More.

Marvin Wayne Kolosiek was born January 14, 1937, in Kalona, Iowa, the son of Melack and Edna Sylvia (Kupka) Kolosiek. He graduated from Kalona High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Central College. Marv was a rural mail carrier for 32 years for the Kalona Postal Service. He was a member of the Kalona United Methodist Church. Marv enjoyed collecting classic cars and going to and judging classic car shows. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye supporter and loved animals, having dogs and cats and raising cattle.

Survivors include his life mate Gretchen Swantz and her family: Scott (Lois) Swantz, Keverley (Mark) Gent, Kristen (Darin) Hochstetler, Austin Swantz, Brodie Johnson, Christian (Jamie) Johnson, Ben Hochstetler, Collin Swantz, Ella Hochstetler, Kara Swantz, Noah Hochstetler and Joel Hochstetler.

Preceding Marv in death were his parents and his brother Donald Kolosiek.
