Miriam Gingerich

Miriam Gingerich, 72, of Kalona, passed from this life on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at her home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 9:30 AM at the Laban T. Miller home, 2094 540th Street SW, Kalona. Burial will follow at the North Gingerich Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, from 2:00 – 7:00 PM and from 10 Am – 6:00 PM Saturday, March 7, at the Laban T. Miller home. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Miriam (Miller) Gingerich was born January 31, 1954, near Kalona, Iowa, the daughter of Truman W. and Lovina (Swartzentruber) Miller. She accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized, remaining faithful until her death on March 5, 2026, at her home in rural Kalona, at the age of 72 years, one month, and five days.

On November 24, 1983, she was united in marriage to Daniel D. Gingerich and lived in matrimony for 42 years. To this union were born five sons: James Daniel and wife Leanna of Lockridge, Iowa; Samuel David and wife Norma of Pittsfield, Illinois; John Duane and fiancée Joyce of Mount Crawford, Virginia; Isaac Dale and wife Ruby of Kalona, Iowa; and Mark Don and wife Ada of Washington, Iowa. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Nathan, Nancy, Timothy, Twila, Maria, Myron, Maynard, Melissa, Mervin; three brothers Joseph T. Miller of Pearisbug, Virginia, Enos T. Miller and Laban T. Miller, both of Kalona, Iowa; three sisters Phebe (Mrs. Robert L. Yoder), Freda (Mrs. Marvin E. Miller) and Orpha Miller all of Kalona, Iowa; and two aunts Susie and Katie Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters-in-law, Rhoda, Esther, and Annie.
