Paul E. Hershberger was born to Edwin and Esther (Miller) Hershberger on May 16, 1919. He died at the Sunnyside Village, Sarasota, FL, on July 22, 2014 following a brief illness.
In his youth he accepted Christ as his Savior. He became a member of the Fairview Mennonite church and later transferred his membership to the Bethel Mennonite Church in Sarasota, FL.
He married Ida N. Yoder on October, 5, 1939 in Mayes County, Oklahoma. They lived in Mayes County for three years then moved to Kalona, Iowa where he farmed until his retirement. Ida preceded him in death on June 11, 1982.
Paul married Malinda (Schrock) Yoder on November 24, 1983 and then moved to Sarasota, Florida where he has resided ever since. Paul and Ida wintered in Florida for ten years before her passing. Paul and Malinda enjoyed traveling together for a number of years. He enjoyed playing games and did so regularly with family members. Paul was a man of wisdom and integrity and has left a remarkable legacy for his family. He was well liked by the nursing staff and all who knew him at Sunnyside Village. They enjoyed his humor, his patience and endurance as a resident there.
His family cherishes the time spent with him in his last days and were all comforted by his desire to go home to see his Lord. He spoke freely of his going home to all who came into his room.
Survivors include his wife Malinda, six sons: Edwin (Marge), John (Sally), Paul (Ruth), Marvin (Paulette) and Nelson (Sue) all of Kalona, and David (Miriam) of Sarasota, Florida, two daughters: Edna of Sarasota, FL, and Irma (Mark) Miller of Kalona.
