Phyllis was born in Iowa City on July 26, 1945, to Denver and Marge (Bridgford) Kinyon. She grew up in Tipton and graduated from Tipton High School in 1963. She met and married Lee Johnson and they had one daughter Tamara. They later divorced and Phyllis met Clifford Schrock. They would marry in June of 1979, move to Wellman, had a daughter Kelly, and would spend the remainder of their life there.
Phyllis drove a bus for Mid-Prairie Schools for 25 years. She also worked as an office assistant at Paul’s Discount Store in Iowa City for 30+ years.
In her spare time Phyllis enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She loved watching her grandson play sports throughout his school years, especially when he was playing baseball. She was always there cheering him on. She was always one to say yes to a trip to the casino to play the slots and a game of bingo. During the fall you would surely find her cheering on the Hawkeyes and the Broncos and the last few years she was bitten by the Clark bug and was an avid woman’s basketball fan.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Clifford, her precious daughters Tamara Greene, Farragut, IA, and Kelly Schrock, Wellman, IA. Grandsons James Johnson, Farragut, IA, Jeremiah Greene, Farragut, IA and Kyan Nash, Wellman, IA. Two brothers Larry Kinyon, Jacksonville, FL, and Terry (Cindy)Kinyon, Loveland, Co and two sisters Carolyn (Dennis) Smithburg, Batavia, IA, and Sally (Elwood) Schrock, Williamsburg, IA. She also has five great-grandkids, a great-great-grandson and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her older sister Bonnie Eicher, and her Precious Grandma “Grossie.”
