Richard Stanley Hughes

Richard Hughes, 79, of Wellman, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Parkview Manor in Wellman. A private graveside service will be held at the Winfield Cemetery. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Richard Hughes was born December 4, 1943, in Winfield, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Ruth (Wimple) Hughes. He graduated from Iowa City High School and attended trade school. Richard lived in California for 16 years, returning to Winfield and working at the University of Iowa Hospital in central sterilization for 18 years. Richard was a simple man that kept to himself and enjoyed seafood.

Survivors include his nephew Steve (Anne) Mann of Wellman; great-niece Tara (Levi) Tate of Carrollton, MO; two great-nephews: Seth and Drake Mann of Wellman; and a great-great-niece Loretta Tate.

Preceding Richard in death were his parents, and a sister Marilyn Mann.
