Ronald Eugene Bowser, 91 of Washington, died Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, April 17, 2023, at 1:30 PM, at the West Chester Community Church with Pastor Don Patterson officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 4:00 PM, Sunday, April 16, 2023, at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with family members receiving friends from 2 - 4:00 PM. Memorials in the name of Ronald Eugene Bowser may be designated to the West Chester Community Church or Hospice of Washington County.

 

Ron was born December 16, 1931, in Kalona, IA, the son of Samuel and Matilda (Brewer) Bowser. He graduated from West Chester High School in 1950 and served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952-1953. Due to his father’s illness, he served the remainder of his time, eight years, in the U. S. Army Reserve. He was united in marriage to Dianne Rae Schlatter on January 12, 1957, in Wayland. Ron was a lifelong farmer, dedicated to raising cattle and tending the soil. He was a member of the West Chester Community Church, went on several ACTION trips, served on the Council of Mid-Praire Church's and served as trustee for Cedar Township. Ron enjoyed tractor pulling and antique tractors and was a member of the Wayland and Mt. Pleasant Antique Tractor Clubs. He was a man of faith that loved the Lord and his family and was very proud of his daughters, son, and grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.

 

Survivors include two daughters and spouses all of Keota; Cindy (John) Snedigar, Teri (Gary) Carl, son-in-law Steve Hahn; eight grandchildren, Samantha (Russell) Allen, Zane Snedigar, Lucas Snedigar, Brent (Bridget) Bowser, Brooke (Joe) Bowser-Collins, Christopher Hahn, Michael Carl; 14 great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Shirley Curtis of Apache Jct, AZ, Mary Schlatter of Washington and June Dewar of Apache Jct, AZ.

 

Preceding Ron in death were his parents, his wife Dianne in 2013, son Tony in 1991, daughter Rhonda in 2020, and three sisters: Fern Bowser, Roslyn McFadden and Marcella Renoux.
