Rosemond “Rose” R. Brenneman, 92, of rural Iowa City, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Lone Tree Health Care Center. A private family burial will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at East Union Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 11:30 AM at the East Union Mennonite Church, where the family will greet friends from 10 AM until 11:15 AM. The service will be available via Livestream at the Beatty Peterseim Facebook and YouTube Pages. A memorial fund has been established for Parkview Free Evangelical Church and Moments Hospice. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Rose was born September 11, 1932, in rural Iowa, the daughter of Monroe and Mary (Kempf) Hochstedler. She was united in marriage to Marlin Brenneman on September 11, 1955, at East Union Mennonite Church. Rose was a farmwife and mother and was very active in the farming operation. She was a member of East Union Mennonite Church and recently attended Parkview Free Evangelical Church. Rose enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her loving husband, Marlin. The couple were always together and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage in September.
Survivors include her husband Marlin of Iowa City; two children: Pam (Lee) Miller of Iowa City, Jeremy (Tami) Brenneman of Parnell; four grandchildren: Brian (Kally) Miller, Kyle (Quinlan) Miller, Laura (Rodney) Ropp, and Amy Brenneman; six great-grandchildren: Cooper, Kenzie, Morgan, Zoey, Joseph and Addison; and four siblings: Iva Showalter of Cedar Rapids, Keith (Elaine) Hochstedler of Kalona, Ken Hochstedler of Kalona, and Rowan (Sue) Hochstedler of Newbury Port, MA.
Preceding Rose in death were her parents and two brothers-in-law: Don Showalter and Elwood (Ida Ruth) Brenneman.
