Funeral services for Rosetta Bender, 85 of Kalona, will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasantview Chapel in Kalona, with Pastor Floyd Helmuth and Chaplain John King officiating. Burial will follow at the East Union Cemetery in Kalona. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Pleasantview Chapel. A memorial fund has been established for Pleasantview Home. Rosetta Bender died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona.
Rosetta Viola Bender was born December 11, 1930 in Johnson County, IA, the daughter of Samuel E. and Gertrude (Gingerich) Bender. She was a charter member of Sunnyside Conservative Mennonite Church. Rosetta enjoyed playing games, especially dominos, and while she was still able to attend church services, she and her brother, Emery, would entertain guests in their home following the service, playing games and eating ice cream.
Survivors include her brother, Emery E. Bender of Kalona and her extended family.
Preceding Rosetta in death were her parents and one brother: Cletus Samuel Bender.
The family would like to thank the Pleasantview Home and staff for the years of dedicated and compassionate care they gave to Rosella.
