Funeral services for Ruby Ann (Ropp) Yoder, 77, of Kalona will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:00 AM at the Kalona Mennonite Church with Pastors Scott Swartzendruber and Perry Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Peter Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 10 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM and Monday, May 11, from 2 – 6 PM at the Kalona Mennonite Church. Ruby Ann Yoder died Friday, May 8, 2015 in Carbondale, IL from a stroke and heart attack.
Ruby Ann (Ropp) Yoder was born in Johnson County, Iowa rural Kalona. The daughter of Jeff and Laura (Bontrager) Ropp on February 17, 1938. She died on May 8th 2015, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, IL, of a massive stroke and heart complications.
She was united in marriage to Harvey D. Yoder on October 1st, 1959.
Ruby accepted Christ in her youth and was baptized in the Old Order Amish Church and was currently a member of Kalona Mennonite Church.
She attended Indian Grove and Fairview rural schools. She was a farmwife for 21 years and enjoyed gardening and flowers. Later she was employed at Pleasantview Home as an assistant cook for 28 years.
Survivors are her husband, Harvey and 4 brothers; Ezra (Mary) Ropp of Middlebury, ID., Jake (Susie) Ropp of Kalona, IA, Cecil (Dorothy) Ropp of Ava, IL, and Virgil (Sue) Ropp of Middlebury, ID., three sisters, Emma (Oren) Miller, Vera Mast, Nancy (Benny) Yoder all of Kalona. Also surviving are one brother-in-law, Vernon (Nina) Miller, and one sister-in-law Annie Ropp both of Kalona, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Chester and a sister Freda.
The family thanks everyone for the many acts of kindness and support shown to them at this time of loss.
