Sharon Gillis

June 2, 1946 — March 11, 2015

A celebration of life for Sharon K. Gillis, 68, of Ainsworth will be held Friday, March 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM at the Ainsworth Opera House with Pastor Dean Elmore officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1 – 6PM on Friday, March 27 at the Opera House.  A memorial fund has been established for the Ainsworth Opera House, Ainsworth 1st Repsonders and Iowa City Hospice.  Sharon Gillis died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at her home in Ainsworth.

Sharon Kay (Schultz) Gillis was born June 2, 1946 in Oskaloosa, IA, the daughter of Howard and Ethyle (Wilson) Schultz.  She graduated from Highland High School.  On August 19, 1967 she was united in marriage to Roger Gillis at the Ainsworth Community Church.  Sharon was very active in Ainsworth Community Together (ACT) and was a girl scout leader for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, volunteering and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her husband Roger of Ainsworth, one daughter, Lori and husband Mark Cavin of Ainsworth, one son, Roger Gillis, Jr. and wife Jillian of Bonaparte, eight grandchildren: Lindsey and fiance' Ryan, Sedrick, Eli, Seth, Sierra, Krusor, Rhiannon and Wyatt, two brothers: Duane "Barney" and wife Rita Schultz and George and wife Judy Schultz of Ainsworth, one sister in law, Sally Schultz of Ainsworth and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Sharon in death were her parents and three brothers: Howdy, Ronnie and Steven Schultz.
