Shirley Hobbs

Shirley Lou Hobbs, 73 of West Chester, died Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.

Funeral Services have been set for 10:00AM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Burial will follow in the West Chester Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Noon Friday, with family present from 5-7:00PM. A memorial to the Washington County Mini Bus or the West Chester United Methodist Church has been established in the name of Shirley Lou Hobbs.

Shirley was born June 4, 1944 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Ivan and Beatrice (Hough) Niffenegger. She graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1962 and was united in marriage to Dean Hobbs at the West Chester United Methodist Church on June 20, 1964.

She was a member of the West Chester United Methodist Church and was employed twenty years at the Washington County Mini Bus. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, camping, gardening, fishing and auto racing.

Survivors include her husband Dean of West Chester, daughter Lori Hanshaw and husband Mike of Springville, IA, their children, Derek Hanshaw, Kylie Hanshaw; Daughter in law Kim Hobbs of Wellman and her children Kayla Gingerich and husband Harlan and Colton Hobbs; brother Gail Niffenegger and wife Sharon of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Bill in 2011.
