Shirley L. Lintz, 85, of Richmond, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Parkview in Wellman. A funeral mass will be held Monday, August 1, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022, from 4 – 7 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona where a Rosary will be recited at 3:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the Richmond Am Vets Ladies Auxiliary.
Shirley Louise (Neuzil) Lintz was born August 7, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Aloysius J. and Mabel (Lenoch) Neuzil. She attended Horace Mann school and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Iowa City. On April 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Richard Lintz at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Iowa City. Shirley worked at the Johnson County Treasurers office and in food service for Mid-Prairie Jr. High and Elementary. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Richmond Am Vets Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley was a hard worker, raising chickens, hauling in corn and raising vegetables in her garden, and canning. She was an excellent cook, providing food for many families going through the loss of a loved one. Her specialties included cream puffs, dill pickle wraps and kolaches.
Survivors include her sons Jeff and Russell Lintz of Kalona, daughters Lori Lintz of Georgia and Barb (Doug) Colbert of Riverside, two grandsons: Matthew and James Colbert and four siblings: Don (Arlene) Neuzil, Bill Neuzil, Joan Chaloupka and Dave Neuzil.
Preceding Shirley in death were her parents, her husband Richard in 2000, brother Dick Neuzil and sister Mary Ann Moore.
