Steve Kindred

A celebration of life for Steve R. Kindred, 63, of Washington, will be held Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00PM at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Ryan Meader officiating.  Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery in rural Washington.  Visitation will be held from 11AM Friday until the time of the service.  A memorial fund has been established for his grandchildren.
Steve Kindred died Tuesday, November 24 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Stephen Randall Kindred was born November 17, 1951 in Washington, Iowa, the son of Billie Oliver and Bea (Gingerich) Kindred.  He graduated from Mid Prairie High School in 1970 and joined the United States Army and served in Germany, earning the National Defense Medal and the Marksman Medal.  Steve was a mechanic at McCleary's for 28 years and then attended truck driving school at Indian Hills in Ottumwa. He drove truck for Schweinfurth Transfer Incorporated for six years.  His life partner for the past 18 years was Deb Wagamon.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #29 and enjoyed Harley Davidson's, his dog Sadie, and working on motors.   Steve was known for helping others and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his partner, Deb Wagamon of Washington, IA, children: Matthew (Jessica) Kindred of Wellman, IA, Amy (Cody) Ryan of Ames, IA,  Duane (Kathy) Wagamon and Jason Wagamon of Brighton, IA,  Kathryn (Andy) Shipman of McCausland, IA, six grandchildren: Kaylee, Ty, Traeton, KyLynne, Samantha and Allison Denise, one great grandson, Averey, mother, Bea (Don) Gardner of Mesa, AZ, father, Billie Oliver (Judy) Kindred of McGregor, IA, one sister, Rhonda Chorpening of Washington, IA, a sister in law: Cyndi Kindred of Riverside, IA, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and lifelong friends.

Preceding Steve in death was his brother, Billie Kindred.
