Virginia was born on January 28, 1929, on the family farm in rural Muscatine County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Linnie (Feldman) Lenz. She attended Federal Hill Country School as a young girl, then continued her education at West Liberty High School, graduating in 1947.

Virginia married Elmo John Kron on November 25, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside, Iowa. Virginia was a farmwife in rural Riverside where she enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and collecting antique glassware, particularly buttermilk goblets. Other hobbies include playing cards, especially with the KUB club, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and “Wheel of Fortune”, and traveling. In 2016 Virginia and Elmo moved to Pioneer Park in Lone Tree, where she made new friends and enjoyed participating in many of their activities.

Survivors include her children: Marilyn Thomann of Kearney, MO; Linda (Doug) Corpman of Columbus Junction; Jane (Tom) Hotz of Lone Tree; Greg (Vickie) Kron of Springville; Kristine (Tim) Stumpf of Lone Tree; son-in-law, Alan Chalupa of Wellman; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Ivan Lenz of West Liberty; sister-in-law, Darlene Lenz of Lone Tree; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmo in 2020; son, Charles Kron; daughter, Joyce Kron-Chalupa, grandsons, Nicholas Kron, and Phillip Kron; son-in-law John Thomann; brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Darlene Lenz; brother Clarence Lenz Jr.; and sister-in-law, Madge Lenz.

We thank the many people who cared for Virginia during her later years and comforted her in her last days, including the University of Iowa Hospital personnel, Compass Hospice, and the staff at Pioneer Park and Lone Tree Care Center for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided.
