Obituary for Wanda McCartney

Wanda McCartney, 90 of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on 10 June 2026 at Seagrass Village, Port Orange, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm at Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home in Kalona, Iowa 52247, viewing at 1:00pm and burial at Wellman Cemetery, Wellman Iowa, at 3:00pm on Monday 29 June 2026.

Wanda was born on June 15, 1936, in Iowa City, Iowa, and was raised in Wellman, Iowa by her parents, Jay and Mardell Miller. She graduated from William Jewell College with a degree in music and taught in the Davenport city school system for over 40 years, bringing the gift of music to generations of young children. She married her husband, Max Jr. McCartney on June 29, 1971, and they remained married until his death in 2005. They were lifelong members of Newcomb Presbyterian church while they lived in Davenport. She enjoyed caring for their many Schnauzer’s they shared over the years and spending time outdoors with Max. In her retirement years she was active with numerous clubs and organizations and cared for the homeless in the Davenport area. She loved and cared for his teenage children from a previous marriage who are left to honor her memory now as adults, Thomas McCartney, Port Orange, FL., Timothy McCartney, Gulf Breeze, FL., and Margaret McCartney, Edmonds, Wa.
