William "Woody" Edward Roush

Conesville

William E. “Woody” Roush, 95, of Conesville, died peacefully in his home under the loving care of his grandchildren Mitchell and Kelli on Wednesday, December 20, 2023. A funeral will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 1 PM at the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville. The service will be available via Livestream on the Beatty Peterseim Website, Facebook and YouTube pages. Burial will follow at the Conesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from  4 – 6 PM Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville. A general memorial fund has been established. The Beatty Peterseim Funeral Home is assisting the family.

William Edward Roush was born September 13, 1928, in Conesville, Iowa, the son of Charles and Neva (Rutt) Roush. On December 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Alma Grace Smith in Davenport, Iowa. Woody worked and managed the Iowa State Experimental Station, then HON. Industries in Muscatine and later owned and operated Roush Sinclair Gas and Service Station with his wife in Conesville. He was a long time member of the Conesville City Council, helped implement the city sanitation system and helped establish the Conesville Volunteer Fire Department, serving on the fire department for many years. Woody enjoyed boating, fishing, woodworking and socializing with friends at the local pub.

Survivors include three children: Patricia “Patty” (Stacy) Lewis of Cordillera, Colorado, William “Bill” Roush of Riverside, Darrell (Phuong) Roush of Iowa City; seven grandchildren: Matthew (Catherine) Cross, Lucas (Sara) Cross, Patricia “Tricia” (Andrew) Denniger, Elsabeth (Matthew) Hepworth, Jeanette (Ryan) Roush-Krafka, Mitchell Roush and Kelli Roush; nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Nelda Yocum, Donna Brier, and one brother Verl “Mike” Roush.

Preceding Woody in death were his parents, his wife Alma, daughter-in-law Cindy Druva-Roush, one sister Verna Mae DeVine and two brothers: Layton and Rex Roush.
